And there it was....the day me and Lars were leaving for Prague, the start of our 2week holiday. For those who don't know Lars. Lars is my buddy, my party hardy AWESOME buddy. "Awesome" because he hates me saying it..after hearing it at least a dozen times in those two weeks.
Anyway, sunday 17 July 2011, after a train ride to the Eindhoven airport, our plane took off! We were both very tired and dozed off a little. It didn't take very long to get to Prague and YES the sun was shining! Lars went to the ATM and I stood in line for the metro tickets, okay, let's go..on our way to our hotel! After we got off the metro, we started looking for our hotel..after walking around a bit, we finally found it. It was pretty nice, we were on the 4th floor, there was an elevator :) and free breakfast every morning! Our room was okay, we had a beautiful view, day and night, a nice bed, clean bathroom and a telly..that had some Czech soaps, some German channels and YES CNN!
We filled our time by walking through the city, exploring the nightlife and just sitting around on Pragues most known square. We even walked for 4hours to see all we had to see in Prague, including a 287stairs-church to see the best view of all of Prague! It was amazing! And on a rainy day, we visited the mall..haha! On our last night we finally decided to go on a Pub Crawl, this would soon be our only occupation at night in the other cities! A Pub Crawl usually includes some free drinks/shots and a crawl from bar to bar to a big known club. We ended up in the biggest club of Central Europe; Karlovy Lazne, a five floor club with on each floor it's own music genre! The floor we loved most was of course the Disco floor, dancing like it was soul train and standing on a color-changing floor! The best thing about a Pub Crawl is meeting new people! We had the best time and figured we should do this in Budapest as well and that we shouldn't wait until our last night! Our ride to Budapest was a little bit different than the airplane we took to Prague, hehe...we went to Budapest by night train. It was pretty comfortable and just the two of us in the train cabin or as Lars called it: his crib.
Budapest, beautiful Budapest. Lars and me soon discovered that Buda and Pest were two different parts of "Budapest". Our hotel was on the "Pest" side and across the river was the "Buda" side. Anyway, Lars and me just started walking around and ended up in this little bistro. We soon found out that men from Budapest were real MEN! Anyway...it started raining again..what else is new... but we decided to keep walking until we didn't want to walk anymore! We went to Harry Potter 3D, it was awesome! We were both kind off quiet at the end..because we've had Harry in our life for like 10years!
Of course we couldn't leave Budapest without a little sightseeing! So we bought tickets for the Hop on Hop off bus, which gave you free access to two bus routes and one boat route. Even though it rained most of the time and Lars got hit by a tree branch on his head (hahaha), we saw Buda and Pest from every angle possible! Oh yeah, our hotel was AWESOME! Haha..Astoria! It was big, we had a balcony and even a bathtub! WOEHOEE! I finally got to go in to a bath tub again, lovely!!
Anyway..we learned from our mistake in Prague, so we did the Pub Crawl twice in Budapest haha..it was crazy...in between pubs/clubs, they hand you a small, really small plastic cup and they fill it up with vodka orange over and over and over and over and over again (both guides had a couple of bottles in their backpacks). It was so funny to see everyone kind of shy and quiet but after drinking those shots like soda, cause that's what it tasted like, everyone got crazy haha! We ended up in a big club again, near to our hotel, with not only an inside floor but also a rooftop, AWESOME :)!
After Budapest...our final destination, our last hope of sun..Split (Croatia) and hallelujaaaa :)! Sun sun sun! We had a studio, bedroom, bathroom and a kitchen (we used it once to make soup haha)! The studio was a minute walk from the beach, lovely!
Our days in Split were pretty much the same every day: Beach, Pub Crawl, Beach, Pub Crawl, Beach, Pub Crawl...and that for 5 days/nights...we only skipped the first night! Haha...we were Pub Crawl veterans :)! And they asked me to stay and work at the Pub Crawl! I almost did..but the season will end september 15th, so...I said no...who knows...maybe next year haha!
We had a blast! I know I did! I lived like crazy and I was totally happy! I was finally doing what I've always loved doing! Traveling, having fun, meeting new people, communicating in ENGLISH :) and partying like there was no tomorrow! I can't wait to go again..and I already have a plan...but I'll get back to you about that ;)! Cheers!!
