#8 Home for the weekend!

Howdy,

Ready for take off!! It's weird having the windows open again, or well the window blinds (not the actual window, like that guy last week that was almost sucked out of the window because it broke - in case you missed it, here's a link). All flights before had them down, new policy or maybe just for longer flights 🤷🏽‍♀️ (?) and so you don't see anything, and no daylight, and also not the landing which is weird. Although, I do have my eyes closed most of the times haha. Not because I'm scared btw, just napping.

On my first flight I had a middle seat. That was fun haha. To my left was woman that needed to go to the restroom after take off and I told her that I was pretty sure you weren't allowed yet since the seatbelt sign was still on and her reply: "Well, I think I'm gonna go anyway" and so me and the lady next to me got up and guess what was said over the speakers "please sit down". Told you 🤦🏽‍♀️. She then also asked me how I got my entertainment system to work and I told her she had to wait for the commercial to finish and she said "it's so long". I know, 4 minutes, it tells you on the bottom is what I replied. After that she was pretty quiet and slept most of the flight. And to my right was an older lady gobbling popcorn like was is her last meal haha. Now, I never minded the smell of popcorn but I kind of dozed off and it was really close to my nose. Flight was fine, no food, only for sale but I didn't pay a whole lot so that was fine haha. Oh and I watched a Nature Documentary - Earth: One Amazing Day. Beautifully done!

Arrived in Iceland for my transfer. It was about 8hrs to get there and I had about an hour to transfer. Passport control only took about a minute since I had a European passport. The other line was soooo long!! After that, I looked for the signs to get to the gates and one said: go left for the exit and go right for the gates... Hmm and it crosses my mind, maybe exit and skip my transfer and just book a new one way ticket home or elsewhere? 🤭 I went to the gates and had a window seat for this flight that took about 3hours.

Watched a movie Eleanor The Great, which was a nice movie and also a bit sad a times, but also funny.

Arrived in Amsterdam around 4pm and went straight to Amstel. A company we work with are based there and have drinks at the office every thursday and so I went there for a few drinks with some of the girls I know. I arrived to a Jenever shot, I don't think I've ever had one haha. And tried a few new beers before leaving!

After that I was picked up at the station in Arnhem around 1930 by the same friend that dropped me off a few weeks back and we went out for drinks (after dropping off my stuff at home). Our trolley buses had new designs, and some of my plants didn't make it through the heatwave, other than that nothing really changed haha. We had a super fun night and ran into people we knew and also talked to a lot of new people. I was home around 5am and had a pretty good sleep!

Cheeers 🍻

I had bought Football pasta a while back and so since I was home and the Worldcup is still on, I figured I would make that. It's what I had every day but in 2 different dishes. One was with tomatoes and mozarella. The other was Mac&Cheese.

I also booked a one way ticket to Copenhagen and so I leave again on tuesday. There were 3 types of tickets, I also go for the cheapest one, no cancellation, no seat choice, no checked luggage, etc. But there was a promo and so the (usually) most expensive one had the same price as the cheapest one and so I was automatically given that. The medium expensive one was not part of the promo and so was more expensive, weird. Anyway, I can now also check in 2*23kg 🤣 and when I checked in a few days later, I was seated in row 5 and in Group A. I have never been in Group A, I'm usually in one of the last groups to board haha. And now I'm wondering if I have been seated in business class as far as a 1 hour flight has business class but we'll see!

Anyways, I'm thinking, Copenhagen, Oslo, Helsinki, Riga, Vilnius, maybe Slovenia, etc. I'll check the upcoming weather though and will adjust my route accordingly if necessary. Also want to look into trains and boats rather than flying so I can see a bit more of the countries instead of just hopping in and out of a city.

Football pasta with mozarella and tomatoes nom nom

Picked my mom up on saturday to go to a thrift shop summer sale and a few supermarkets. She said that it was good to see me again and I told her that was nice to hear! But then she said that she had two heavy bags of garbage and it was easier to drop them off by car haha. Love you too mom! I then kind of unpacked, I'm leaving again soon so no need to unpack everything..and had drinks with another good friend that night, but was home before midnight and watched the two matches. Although the Switzerland-Argentina was around 3am and so I fell asleep a few times 😅.

I guess I did see the $2 bill before haha, it was already in my collection

So I just added Canada to my collection!

Walking home after drinks!

On sunday I didn't leave the house. I did some housework and took care of my plants. Oh and made Mac&Cheeese with the Football pasta for that day and the next. Bag is empty now!

Drove to Germany monday morning to get cheaper gas and visit two shops. Glad I went that early because there was a traffic jam on on my way back towards Germany! Chilled on the balcony for a bit, took a loooooong nap, reheated dinner and made Margeritas!

Working like a mad scientist!
My Mexican friend told me not to show any other Mexicans I used this tequila for mixing 🙈. She bought it for me in Mexico last time she was there. I usually don't care a lot if it's a brand or not when mixing but Margaritas is mostly tequila so I figured good Margarita needs good tequila.

Nom nom Margarita with Tajin rim (had that a lot during my roadtrip in Florida last year and so I bought a bottle tajin spices but hadn't used it until now)!

Mac&Cheese

Also had two friends over that evening, one for her final knitting lesson and also just for fun. I know who does that during summer? Haha but she nearly finished before I left and so we figured one more. But it turned out that wasn't enough, and so one more later this year. Either way she'll have it done before next winter haha. And the other friend came by just for fun. She didn't like the Margarita haha, too strong and so I finished that as well. After they left, I washed some clothes and stuff. Unfortunately it is still leaking when it drains the water and so I had another tsunami that I had to take care of after midnight haha. Clothes were washed though.

Went to bed way too late because of it and woke up too early. But I had plenty of time before I needed to go to the airport and so no reason to rush anything. Packed my bag, swapped a few dresses and packed a few new books to read! Other than that, same stuff. And so my weekend at home has come to an end. And I'm happy about that haha, despite what I said in my first post of almost not wanting to leave my home. There's nothing here for me. Just meeting friends and drinking with them. Not that I didn't enjoy that 💕! But it's time to leave again, month 2, part 2 of my sabbatical! The same friend drove me to the station again, so that was nice and took the direct train to Schiphol Airport!

Healthy snack

Went to AH, bought something to eat on board and weighed my bags. 9.9kg, must be the extra books hihi. Checked the departures: DELAYED 🤦🏽‍♀️. My arrival time just became my departure time so 20:05 instead of 18:40. I'm glad I never go too early, just arrived to the airport at 17:10. But also had a timeslot for 17:30-17:45 and so I went outside until then to sit in the sun for a bit and made my way to the gate. Had to go to a different part of the airport, there was construction around the gate and huge fans and so hot! Walked back a little bit where it was cooler and where I could get a beer, Extra cold 0.5liter! Nom!

9.9kg 🙃

Outside chillings

Inside chillings

Time to go, walked over to the gate and, was I indeed seated in business class? You'll have to wait for my next post! So stay tuned / sign in to get updates (right side)!

Oh and FYI, my leg is fine and healing nicely :-)! Might leave a little scar but we'll see. Every scar has a story 😉.

Walked: 6,8km - 1,4km - 7,2km - 0,16km - 1,3km - defenitely time to go haha.

Cheers,

T.
